Title
An Investigation into Materials/Cut/Cost/Performance of sails for dingy/yachts both locally/nationally and internationally.

My null hypothesis is: The percentage cost of a suit of sails compared to full boat cost is increasing over the last decade (More expensive)

My Alternate hypothesis is: The percentage cost of a suit of sails compared to full
Boat cost is decreasing over the last decade (Less expensive)
The Businesses that have been researched so far by this author have been Private Limited Companies. Their market share and turnover are still to be ascertained and shall be done by questionnaire to themselves. As a check, information shall be requested from companies house and information gained from
1. The RYA (http://www.rya.org.uk/)
2. The Marine Leisure Ass(http://www.marineleisure.co.uk/)
3. The International Boat Industry www.ibinews.com/
4. The British Marine Federation www.britishmarine.co.uk/
The boating press shall also be contacted and any information received shall be checked against the answers received. An overview shall be gained from further reading and compelling a literary review.
Individual boat owners shall also be contacted through yacht clubs notice boards, publications both paper and electronic plus monthly sailing magazines. It has been pointed out to this author that racing yachts and dinghies will have changed their suits of sails a lot more often than cruising yachts and therefore more information could be accessed from this ”cash rich” group. It could be argued that the racing yachies cost comparison ratio would be biasing to my project and therefore this author shall look at all of the gained information and make objective and scientific decisions whether to include or exclude this group of stakeholders.

The businesses that I wish to include in my project are listed below.

At the end of this investigation the author will have gained sufficient depth of knowledge in this field to enable him to act as a broker (agent) between the client and the sail loft thus enabling the client to negotiate the best deal in the market in both cost and quality for themselves. This agent could charge a flat fee to the client or a mark up percentage on the purchase.
